Juve and Liverpool target Romagnoli pens Milan contract extension

Alessio Romagnoli has signed a new four-year contract with AC Milan. The Italy international has become a key man at San Siro, lining up alongside Leonardo Bonucci and making 28 Serie A appearances for Gennaro Gattuso's men last season. And Romagnoli has now renewed his Milan deal, committing his future to the club until 2022. A Milan statement described the contract as a "priority" for chiefs Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli. "I thank Fassone and Mirabelli," Romagnoli said in an announcement on Milan's Facebook page. "We hope it will be a renewal that brings us great satisfaction, both next season and also in the years to come. "Thank you again everyone. Now we will enjoy the holidays and come back fired up for a new season." Romagnoli joined Milan from Roma in a €25million deal in 2015 and had been the subject of reported interest from the likes of Juventus and Liverpool.

Falcao flattered by Milan interest as summer move is mooted

Radamel Falcao says it is "an honour" to be linked with AC Milan. The 32-year-old, who scored 24 goals in all competitions for Monaco last season, is gearing up for Colombia's World Cup campaign and featured in their 0-0 draw with Egypt on Friday. His preparations threaten to be overshadowed, though, by increasing speculation suggesting the Italian giants are set to make a move for him during the off-season. While Falcao admits he has been a long-time admirer of the Rossoneri, his focus for now remains solely on the World Cup. "I have already said that it's an honour they are thinking of me," he said after the draw with Egypt. "Milan are one of the best clubs in the world and I've always been following them but, for now, as I said, I have a contract with Monaco and I'm comfortable there. I feel loved there. "We need to see their plans and their project but I'm focused on the World Cup right now. I will analyse everything once all this is finished. "I'm keeping myself out of it. I've seen what the media says about it. I have a contract and right now I'm just thinking about the World Cup." Colombia face Japan, Poland and Senegal in Group H of the World Cup, starting with a clash against the Samurai Blue in Saransk on June 19.

Strinic confirms summer switch from Sampdoria to AC Milan

Ivan Strinic has confirmed that he will be joining AC Milan on a three-year contract this summer. The Croatia international endured a frustrating end to the 2017-18 campaign at Sampdoria as an expiring deal led to him being frozen out. He will, however, be taking on a new challenge next season after agreeing a switch to San Siro. The 30-year-old full-back is delighted to have finally secured a move to Milan after being linked with the Rossoneri for several years and is expecting a move to be finalised after World Cup 2018. Strinic told 24sata: “The season is now over, so I can say that I am no longer a Sampdoria player and I have signed a three-year contract with Milan. "I think the club will announce it after the World Cup. “Being left out by Sampdoria? When you have a contract that’s expiring in two months, a club can do one of two things. “They can concentrate on getting the most out of you for the time left, or they can decide not to play you anymore. “So I played only three games in the second half of the season, Milan wanted me and said they didn’t care that I would not play much for the rest of the season. “The fact they wanted me anyway is a good thing.” Strinic added on fulfilling an ambition of joining Milan: "Even as kid, I never supported any foreign club, only Hajduk. But of course I liked some clubs more than others and Milan was definitely one of those. “While I was growing up and started playing football, Milan was the best club in Europe and I loved players such as [Clarence] Seedorf, [Paolo] Maldini, [Andrea] Pirlo, Cafu. It is an honour and privilege to be part of such a club's history. “It was not easy for Milan this season to change almost their entire squad, it takes time and hopefully we'll do better next season. Although this one was not so bad either as we qualified for the Europa League.”

Dzeko: Nobody wanted me to move to Chelsea but AC Milan were a dream

Edin Dzeko claims “nobody” wanted him to join Chelsea during the January transfer window, with those at Roma having convinced him to snub a return to the Premier League. Having previously tasted title glory in England with Manchester City, the Bosnia international was presented with an opportunity to retrace his steps over the winter. Chelsea were eager to bring in another powerful frontman to bolster their ranks, but eventually had to turn to Olivier Giroud after seeing admiring glances shot in the direction of the Italian capital knocked back. Dzeko has regularly stated that he has no regrets at having opted against entering into talks, with the 32-year-old maintaining that stance on the back of another productive season in Serie A which delivered 16 goals. He told Face TV: "Chelsea is a big challenge and I know what kind of a club that is, I've been at Man City and I wasn't ready to move to Chelsea. “Nobody I spoke to wanted me to move to Chelsea so I decided to stay. “It has been tough period, a lot of stories and information, true and false, were written, everything went through my head, I wasn't clear or certain of anything at the time.” Having seen off one transfer window, the imminent opening of another has seen Dzeko’s future at Roma called into question once more. He has made no decision on where he will be playing in 2018-19 as yet, although he remains under contract until 2020. Dzeko added: “Now I will play two games for Bosnia and then we'll see [where will I play]. “I have another two years of contract, so Roma has to be asked about it too.” Dzeko is likely to stay put once more, but he has revealed that he once dreamt of turning out for one of Roma’s fiercest Serie A rivals He said: “While I was playing for Zeljeznicar, AC Milan was my big wish. “After I won the German title with Wolfsburg in 2009, I was very close to Milan, but Wolfsburg would not let me go. “But my career went very well and I am currently very happy in Rome.”
