Adekanye set to leave Liverpool as Lazio and Barcelona show interest

Liverpool youngster Bobby Adekanye has revealed that he will not be signing a new contract and claims Barcelona and Lazio are both interested in his services. Adekanye has become disgruntled with life at Anfield after not being given a chance to shine in the first team as well as being left at home as the team went on a pre-season tour of the USA. The Dutchman made his debut for Netherlands U20s against Mexico last week and has made nine appearances for Liverpool's U23s in the Premier League 2 this term but has not played since November. "I expected that I would get a chance at Liverpool sooner. Before I came, we talked about it. They said that if I had a good first season, I had a good chance of joining the first team," he told Voetbalzone.nl. "Due to injury, that did not come true. I had to undergo surgery at the start of my second season and then it is difficult to return.” Adekanye plays in one of the most competitive positions at Liverpool, with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah being two of the first names on the teamsheet every week and the starting XI looks a long way off for the youngster. He added: "Jurgen Klopp spoke to me and gave me tips. He said 'keep doing your thing'. But, in the end, I don't think I appeared in his plans. If so, I have to look for something else. That is disappointing and it has helped me decide not to renew my contract." Despite his lack of minutes, there has been no lack of interest in the 20-year-old with reports in Italy claiming he has been offered a deal by Lazio, as well as Barcelona reportedly looking to bring him back to the club. "That I would sign with Lazio is not at all the case," he said. "It's not over yet. They are one of the clubs that is interested, but it is not yet 100 per cent decided. "I also heard from Barcelona. In the Netherlands, Willem II came by. I can't name the entire list of clubs now, because then we will be busy tomorrow. But there is interest from, among others, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain. "In the summer I am going to talk about it with my family and business manager Junior Minguella, I am not worried that I will have no club."

'Ibrahimovic is best I've played with' - Boateng overlooks Barca team-mate Messi

Kevin-Prince Boateng said Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the best player he has played with as the Barcelona midfielder overlooked superstar team-mate Lionel Messi. Boateng has played alongside some of the world's greatest footballers, and Ibrahimovic stands out for the former Ghana international. Ibrahimovic and Boateng were team-mates at AC Milan, with the pair helping the Serie A giants win the 2010-11 Scudetto. Asked to name the best player he has played with, Boateng told Barcelona TV in a Q&A: "Zlatan Ibrahimovic." Boateng's answer came as a surprise, given he plays with five-time Ballon d'Or winner and Barca's all-time leading goalscorer Messi . The 32-year-old, who completed a shock loan move to Barca in January, was forced to dismiss suggestions of a past allegiance to Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo following his Camp Nou arrival. Boateng lauded Messi as the best player "in this world and every world" during his official presentation after past quotes declaring himself a Madrid fan and describing Ronaldo as the world's best resurfaced. Messi has scored 39 goals in all competitions this season, while Boateng has only made three appearances since swapping Sassuolo for Barca on loan. The Blaugrana are currently top of La Liga by 10 points, with a Champions League quarterfinal to look forward to against Manchester United in April and a Copa del Rey final against Valencia to take in the following month. Barca's first game back after the international break is a home clash with Espanyol on Saturday, with Messi expected to shake off a knock he picked up while playing for Argentina .

Lo Celso not thinking about Madrid or Barca as transfer speculation mounts

Giovani Lo Celso says he is unconcerned by interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid as he continues to make his way during his loan stint with Real Betis.  The Argentinian international was loaned to Real Betis in August as he joined the La Liga club on a season-long deal from Paris Saint-Germain.  Lo Celso was originally bought by PSG in July 2016, as he joined from Argentine side Rosario Central several months later after being loaned back to the club.  The midfielder made 48 appearances in all competitions for PSG in 2017-18, scoring six goals as the club went on to win the league, Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue.  But his future remains unsure and the 22-year-old is not yet sure of what his next step will be upon the expiration of his loan deal with Betis.    "A return to France? I don't know what may happen tomorrow. I try to focus on the present right now," Lo Celso told France Football.  "We'll see when the time comes. Barca and Real's interests, I don't think about that. I'm young and I still have a long career ahead of me.  "My main objective is to finish the season as high as possible (in the standings) with Betis."  He added: "You have to stay focused on what you're doing and continue to do what you're doing to keep moving forward. It's not good to think about the transfer window rumours."  Lo Celso has scored 12 goals in 36 matches for Betis, more than doubling the total of nine goals he'd scored in the four prior years to start his senior career.  Real Betis currently sit eighth in La Liga, only six points behind fourth-place Getafe.  Following the conclusion of the international break, Lo Celso and Real Betis return to league play with a visit to Rayo Vallecano as the club looks to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to Barcelona last time out.

Liverpool are better than Man City, and both are better than Barcelona – Van Gaal

Louis van Gaal says he believes Manchester City are better than Barcelona, but that Liverpool are better than both as the three sides chase the Champions League title this season. Liverpool currently lead the Premier League by two points over Manchester City, who maintain a game in hand on their title rivals. The English duo are also still alive in the Champions League, with Liverpool having toppled Bayern Munich in their round of 16 clash while Manchester City took down Schalke with ease. And van Gaal says both are better than a team many see as the favourite to win the competition, Barcelona.  "People think Barcelona are the best but they are not. Manchester City and Liverpool are more of a team than Barcelona - and Liverpool are more of a team than City," he told BBC. "In my philosophy, the best team shall win but I hope for City because they play the best football." Van Gaal managed Barcelona from 1997-2000 before returning to the club for another stint from 2002-03. During his stay in Catalonia, van Gaal won La Liga twice, a Copa del Rey and a UEFA Super Cup. Barcelona are set to take on van Gaal's former club, Manchester United, in the next round as they are set to face off April 10 in England before the return leg in Spain six days later. Van Gaal's last managerial job was his stay with Manchester United, a frustrating tenure that ended in 2016 just days after van Gaal won the FA Cup. Despite not returning to the game since, van Gaal says he has had other offers, but he is also content with his legacy as it stands. "I have a philosophy. I was convinced of it and by winning trophies in four countries, I proved the philosophy worked," he says. "But my legacy is bigger than just my results. I am also a relations coach, not only with my players but everyone in a club. "It is not my image but I am very human in that way. At Manchester United there were more than 40 people in the performance department. The medical department, the fans. They all had a heart for the club. I went to work as an analyst at a game at Liverpool and the United fans were still shouting my name. "I am proud people still like me. That is what is most important in life."

"The football here suits my style’ – Chelsea’s Kenneth Omeruo wants permanent Leganes stay

On-loan Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo wants a permanent stay at Spanish La Liga side Leganes. The 25-year-old joined the Blues in January 2012 but he is yet to play a competitive game for the Premier League side, having spent time on loan with Dutch side ADO Den Haag, English Championship club Middlesbrough, Turkish Super Lig’s Alanyaspor and Kasimpasa. In August, the Nigeria international teamed up with the Cucumber Growers for his seventh loan move from Chelsea, with an option of making the deal permanent. Omeruo has delivered decent performances to help Mauricio Pellegrino’s men keep ten clean sheets in 24 appearances. And the defender has expressed his desire to remain with Estadio Municipal de Butarque outfit as he aims to stabilize his career. "The football here suits my style and the club provides a stable platform for me," Omeruo told BBC Sport. "The opportunity to play against the best players in the world is massive for my career. There is an option for Leganes to sign me on a permanent basis and hopefully that will happen. "The Chelsea management have never stopped me from making important career decisions and they've been very supportive. "It will be a decision between both clubs, but personally I hope I'll be a Leganes player for next season and beyond. "I deserve stability in my career as a footballer. Leganes and Spanish football provides me with the continuity and right environment for career growth. "After enduring instability with different loan moves, it's time to finally settle down with my young family. Leganes fans and club officials have been awesome to my family which has helped me mentally and physically. “It has also helped me with the national team and to connect with fans back home because La Liga is on television in Nigeria. I'd love to stay at this football club and hopefully that will happen." Omeruo will be expected to be in action when Leganes square up with Getafe on Saturday after the international break.
