Roma yet to receive bid for Liverpool and Real Madrid target Alisson

Roma have yet to receive an offer for in-demand goalkeeper Alisson, claims Monchi, despite the Brazil international being heavily linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid. It appeared as though a switch to Spain was on the cards at one stage, with James Pallotta suggesting that a €78 million (£69m/$91m) deal was close. The Roma president has since claimed that he was joking and that those in the Italian capital have no intention of parting with a prized asset. That remains the stance when it comes to a man currently away on World Cup duty, with Monchi adamant that no rumoured interest has been formalised. Roma’s sporting director told reporters at the club’s unveiling of new signing Javier Pastore: “As of now we’ve had no offers for Alisson. “All I think about is waiting for the World Cup to finish, but hopefully for Brazil that’s as late as possible, then he can rest, come here, and train with his team-mates. “I want to make it clear: as of now no offer has arrived. If you asked me about [Patrick] Schick I’d say the same thing, I’ve read so much but no offer has come in. “That’s the reality, and I have to work with reality.” Alisson is not the only Roma player to have sparked plenty of transfer talk, with Lorenzo Pellegrini another to have been linked with leading sides across Europe. Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus are among those said to be keen on the highly-rated midfielder, but Monchi insists he is another who is going nowhere. He added: “I met Giampiero Pocetta [Pellegrini's agent] last week, and we did not talk about his goodbye. We are calm.”

Nainggolan: I no longer felt important at Roma

Radja Nainggolan is ready for a "new adventure" at Inter after revealing he no longer felt important at Roma. Inter shelled out an initial €38 million (£33.5m/$44m) to sign Nainggolan on a four-year contract on Tuesday, though with Davide Santon and Nicolo Zaniolo going the other way their net spend stands at €24m. The 30-year-old will reunite with Luciano Spalletti, who he spent 18 months playing under at Stadio Olimpico, as Inter look to improve on a fourth-place finish in Serie A in 2017-18, while also preparing to take part in the Champions League for the first time since 2011-12. Nainggolan, who retired from international duty for the second time in less than a year after being overlooked for Belgium's World Cup squad, claimed he was motivated to move to the Nerazzurri after feeling a loss of faith in the capital. "The most important thing for me is sensing people believe in me. I got a call from the sporting director [Piero Ausilio], the coach [Spalletti] and [vice-president Javier] Zanetti too," he told Inter TV. "They made me feel important, something I perhaps no longer felt at Roma, so it was an easy choice. Of course, I won't forget the past, but I'm happy to start a new adventure. I'm really up for it. "I think I had my best season under Spalletti and I hope to do just as well here. I'm here for the coach and happy to be working with him again. "I hope we can do well both in Serie A and the Champions League because Inter have a proud history. Hopefully we'll get back to those heights again now."

Fellaini sets date for announcement on future

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini will reveal a decision over his future on Sunday, saying there is "no need to wait until the end of the World Cup". The Belgium international will become a free agent on July 1 if it transpires that he has not signed a new contract at Old Trafford, and a move away from the club would bring his five-year stay in Manchester to an end. Fellaini has been a divisive figure among United supporters since being signed by David Moyes in September 2013, making just 16 Premier League appearances in his first season at the club. He enjoyed a brief renaissance under Jose Mourinho, playing 28 times in the top flight in 2016-17, but his opportunities were limited again the following season after Paul Pogba's arrival. AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli said Fellaini could be a target for the Italian giants and the player did little to cool speculation over his next destination when speaking in Russia ahead of Belgium's Group G match against England on Thursday. Fellaini told reporters: "I want to be free in my head and that is why soon I will announce where I will play next season." When asked whether he would make the announcement on July 1, the 30-year-old replied: "Yes. There is no need to wait until the end of the World Cup." Looking ahead to his country's final World Cup group game against the Three Lions, Fellaini suggested that his knowledge of the English game could give Belgium an advantage. Fellaini was an unused substitute in Belgium's 3-0 victory over Panama, before featuring in the second half of the Red Devils' 5-2 win over Tunisia. "If we want to go far in this World Cup we will need every player," he said. "Everybody is ready to play, everybody wants to play. "I know the Premier League very well and many England players also. I am proud that more Belgium players followed in Vincent Kompany's and my footsteps and are doing great now in England. "It will be an interesting game against England but it will be a strange one also because both teams are qualified."

    Pastore completes €24.7m Roma switch

Javier Pastore has signed a five-year deal at Roma in a €24.7 million (£21.7m/$28.2m) move from Paris Saint-Germain, the Serie A club confirmed. The 29-year-old arrived on a busy Tuesday for Roma, with Radja Nainggolan having completed his €38m (£33.5m/$44m) departure to Inter and Davide Santon and Nicolo Zaniolo moving in the opposite direction for a combined €14m. Pastore won five Ligue 1 titles at PSG but fell out of favour under Unai Emery in 2017-18 and, due to his lack of playing time at club level, was overlooked for Argentina's World Cup squad. The playmaker spent two productive seasons in Serie A with Palermo prior to his move to Paris, and he is delighted to be back in familiar surroundings. "I am very happy to be here at Roma. It is great to return to Italy and to do it with such a great club," said Pastore in a statement. "I hope to repay in full all the enthusiasm, support and affection that Roma fans have shown me already." Pastore has been capped 29 times by Argentina and was named Serie A Young Footballer of the Year in 2010, having helped Palermo to a fifth-place finish and a spot in the Europa League. Roma sporting director Monchi said: "The signing of Javier makes me very happy because we are talking about the sort of player who can excite the fans he plays for. "In my career as a sporting director I have signed a lot of players, but Javier might just be the one with the most talent."
