Roma yet to receive bid for Liverpool and Real Madrid target Alisson

Roma have yet to receive an offer for in-demand goalkeeper Alisson, claims Monchi, despite the Brazil international being heavily linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid. It appeared as though a switch to Spain was on the cards at one stage, with James Pallotta suggesting that a €78 million (£69m/$91m) deal was close. The Roma president has since claimed that he was joking and that those in the Italian capital have no intention of parting with a prized asset. That remains the stance when it comes to a man currently away on World Cup duty, with Monchi adamant that no rumoured interest has been formalised. Roma’s sporting director told reporters at the club’s unveiling of new signing Javier Pastore: “As of now we’ve had no offers for Alisson. “All I think about is waiting for the World Cup to finish, but hopefully for Brazil that’s as late as possible, then he can rest, come here, and train with his team-mates. “I want to make it clear: as of now no offer has arrived. If you asked me about [Patrick] Schick I’d say the same thing, I’ve read so much but no offer has come in. “That’s the reality, and I have to work with reality.” Alisson is not the only Roma player to have sparked plenty of transfer talk, with Lorenzo Pellegrini another to have been linked with leading sides across Europe. Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus are among those said to be keen on the highly-rated midfielder, but Monchi insists he is another who is going nowhere. He added: “I met Giampiero Pocetta [Pellegrini's agent] last week, and we did not talk about his goodbye. We are calm.”

Low applauds Ozil's 'great reaction' to being dropped

Mesut Ozil produced a "great reaction" to being dropped for Germany's 2-1 win over Sweden and is in contention to start against South Korea on Wednesday, according to Joachim Low. Ozil paid the price for a disappointing display in Germany's surprise 2-0 defeat to Mexico, as Low left him on the bench last Saturday in Sochi. Toni Kroos' last-gasp winner ensured Germany head into their final Group F outing in a much stronger position than had looked likely in a contest in which Die Mannschaft came from behind despite having Jerome Boateng sent off. But Ozil could find himself back in the starting XI in Kazan on Wednesday, with Low praising him for his response to being left out. "After the match against Sweden, Ozil showed a great reaction in training, as I expected from all who didn't play," Low told reporters at the Kazan Arena. "Therefore, all are an option for tomorrow. I think we have 18 players available. Sebastian Rudy won't be able to play, that's still a few days early as he broke his nose in multiple places. "He could have a mask, but that wouldn't make sense. All other 18 players are available aside from Jerome. "[Mats] Hummels is able to play tomorrow [Wednesday], he has trained the last few days and he has no problems." Another Germany player to have been criticised for his performances in Russia is Thomas Muller, and Low saluted his willingness to self-evaluate during a "long chat" they had earlier in the tournament. "After the match against Mexico, we had a long chat and tried to analyse his way of playing with videos," Low added. "He's someone who's very open to comments and someone who's critical of himself. "We spoke of a few things and he knows [his situation]. He's the sort of player who, despite negativity, he looks forward, he keeps a positive attitude and he's very important for us."

Torreira talks up Arsenal but remains focused on World Cup with Uruguay

Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira is focused only on the World Cup despite continued speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal. The 22-year-old is widely tipped to become Unai Emery's third signing at Emirates Stadium, with the Gunners already bringing in Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno, but any move is unlikely until after Torreira's involvement in Russia. Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero claimed earlier this week that a €30 million (£26m/$35m) deal is done for Torreira, who has featured twice for his country in the tournament, both times off the bench. However, when asked if a transfer was complete, Torreira told reporters: "I don’t know. At the moment, the most important thing is playing for my country. "Arsenal are a good team, one of the most important in the world, but at this moment I am focused on playing for my country." While Torreira prioritises playing for his country at the World Cup, Ferrero appears to have held negotiations with Arsenal, as he announced the two clubs had agreed a fee. "Torreira has left for €30m. I bought him from Pescara when nobody believed in him," he told TMW. "We took a gamble on him and we won, paying just €3m. The money that comes in will be used to capitalise the company."
