Marcus Rashford sees similarities between Manchester United team-mate Romelu Lukaku and former Old Trafford favourite Cristiano Ronaldo. The Red Devils snapped up the Belgium international for £75 million ($99m) in the summer of 2017 and saw him offer a 27-goal return in his debut campaign. He is now replicating that form on a World Cup stage, with the target found four times in two outings to date. An untimely ankle issue has cast his involvement in a meeting with England on Thursday into doubt, and Rashford will be among those pleased to see the 25-year-old miss out if he does not recover in time. The United forward has seen his club colleague up close in 2017-18 and believes his talent and work ethic is comparable to that of Real Madrid icon Ronaldo. Rashford told Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel: "He's a beast. "He's a massive threat, he'll be tough to deal with [at the World Cup]." Asked about Lukaku’s Premier League form, Rashford added: "It doesn't surprise me. When you see his work ethic, it's his determination to improve. It's like what we were talking about with [Cristiano] Ronaldo and wanting to better yourself. "There's been times when we've stayed behind and practiced finishing. Genuinely we could stay there all day and just try to better ourselves and improve. That's a quality in itself." Rashford has also been impressed by Lukaku’s desire to help United be the best they can be, with the club’s leading marksman prepared to do a job for the team when required. Quizzed on his attitude in training, the Red Devils and England star said: "Everyone is chilled but everybody wants to win, especially when things aren't going our way. There's no time to be joking around. He's a serious guy as you can see." Rashford will be hoping to figure against Belgium on Thursday as England bring their Group G campaign to a close. He has been restricted to just one appearance off the bench so far, but Gareth Southgate has vowed to make changes to his side after booking a last-16 berth with one game to spare.

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini will reveal a decision over his future on Sunday, saying there is "no need to wait until the end of the World Cup". The Belgium international will become a free agent on July 1 if it transpires that he has not signed a new contract at Old Trafford, and a move away from the club would bring his five-year stay in Manchester to an end. Fellaini has been a divisive figure among United supporters since being signed by David Moyes in September 2013, making just 16 Premier League appearances in his first season at the club. He enjoyed a brief renaissance under Jose Mourinho, playing 28 times in the top flight in 2016-17, but his opportunities were limited again the following season after Paul Pogba's arrival. AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli said Fellaini could be a target for the Italian giants and the player did little to cool speculation over his next destination when speaking in Russia ahead of Belgium's Group G match against England on Thursday. Fellaini told reporters: "I want to be free in my head and that is why soon I will announce where I will play next season." When asked whether he would make the announcement on July 1, the 30-year-old replied: "Yes. There is no need to wait until the end of the World Cup." Looking ahead to his country's final World Cup group game against the Three Lions, Fellaini suggested that his knowledge of the English game could give Belgium an advantage. Fellaini was an unused substitute in Belgium's 3-0 victory over Panama, before featuring in the second half of the Red Devils' 5-2 win over Tunisia. "If we want to go far in this World Cup we will need every player," he said. "Everybody is ready to play, everybody wants to play. "I know the Premier League very well and many England players also. I am proud that more Belgium players followed in Vincent Kompany's and my footsteps and are doing great now in England. "It will be an interesting game against England but it will be a strange one also because both teams are qualified."

Phil Neville's son Harvey has followed in his footsteps by signing a deal to play for Manchester United. Neville Jr joined the youth academy at Valencia when his father moved to the club as assistant to his brother Gary in 2015. However, the teenager, who uploaded a photo of himself putting pen to paper on a contract on his 16th birthday, will continue his fledgling career with United. Neville Sr, who manages the England women's national team, wrote on Instagram: "Proud of you [Harvey Neville] go follow your dreams!" Neville Sr made 386 appearances as player for United and returned as a coach when David Moyes took charge at Old Trafford in 2013. In a post on Instagram, Gary Neville wrote: "Congratulations [Harvey Neville] you've practiced so hard to get where you are! Keep going."

Romelu Lukaku did not take part in Belgium training on Tuesday as he deals with an ankle injury. Head coach Roberto Martinez revealed after the 5-2 win over Tunisia on Saturday that Lukaku, who scored two goals to take his tally for the World Cup to four, sustained "external ankle ligament damage to his left foot". The Manchester United striker went for a scan on Monday and did not feature in group activities with his team-mates the following day in Dedovsk. However, Eden Hazard and Dries Mertens, struggling with calf and ankle problems respectively, did participate. Belgium have already qualified for the last 16 at Russia 2018, but top spot in Group G will be up for grabs when they take on England in Kaliningrad on Thursday. Martinez has expressed his intention to make widespread changes to his line-up, with it appearing unlikely Lukaku will be risked against the Three Lions. Vincent Kompany was anticipated to be ready for action against England and has been declared "medically fully fit" by the Red Devils coach. Kevin De Bruyne, Jan Vertonghen and Thomas Meunier are a booking away from a suspension and could therefore be among the players rested against England. Belgium have thus far thumped Tunisia and beaten Panama 3-0. England beat Tunisia 2-1, and thrashed Panama 6-1.

Denmark boss Age Hareide says his supposed criticism of France and Paul Pogba was taken out of context. Hareide was accused of claiming Didier Deschamps' side were "nothing special" and that Pogba "only thought about his haircut", but the experienced Norwegian insists his words were twisted to create a story. Denmark go into Tuesday's Group C clash with Les Bleus in Moscow knowing a draw will be enough for them to join France in the last 16 while a defeat would also do if Australia fail to beat Peru. Hareide said: "Things were taken out of context. If you read the whole article, you would have seen I was comparing this team with the 1998 team. "You can pick out whatever you like from an article but I was comparing [this team] with the best ever France team in 1998, that's all." Hareide was quick to make clear his admiration for Pogba and France. He added: "France has a team with so many good individual players. Their defence is strong and midfield strong with Pogba. "What he delivers as a player, you can't compare with anything in Europe and then [Antoine] Griezmann at the top - two great players. They are extremely strong." Hareide will send his players out to win the game at the Luzhniki Stadium, although he will tinker with the tactics to ensure they are harder to beat and tighter at the back. "I know one point will be enough but that's not a good way to start a match," he said. "If you put that into your players' heads there will be passiveness in the team and that is not good. "We know [a draw] will be enough so the way we organise may be different from other matches. We must not leave as much space as we did against Australia. "We really wanted to beat Australia so we pushed men forward and they had lots of counter attacks. France are very good on the counter with skilful players so we can't play the same way, we need to be strong defensively. "We need a better balance. We need to be wiser in the way we play because France are a very good team." Hareide will have one ear on events in Sochi where Australia need a win to stand any chance. He said: "We will have communication with our guy who is there. My assistant will receive the information and we will know how it's going on an ongoing basis but I don't think I will tell the players." Christian Eriksen will again be tasked with carrying the Danish threat and Hareide spoke glowingly of the Tottenham midfielder. "Christian is one of our stars, he singlehandedly got us here with the match in Dublin [against the Republic of Ireland]," he said. "He's a wonderful guy, a modest person, he's very easy to be around. He loves his football and the more we play the happier he is. "Off the pitch he is a good influence on the younger players, they look up to him." Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is pleased qualification is still in their own hands. He said: "We had hoped to be in a situation where we've already qualified but we can still decide it ourselves. "Had we been offered four points we'd have said 'yes please'. Had we won the last match it would have been easier but as long as we have it in our own hands we are very pleased."
